James Bond 007
02.18.07 (11:06 pm)   [edit]

James Bond 007 is a fictional British agent created in 1952 by writer Ian Fleming, featured in several novels and short stories. After Fleming's death in 1964, subsequent James Bond novels were written by Kingsley Amis (as Robert Markham), John Pearson, John Gardner, Raymond Benson and Charlie Higson. Moreover, Christopher Wood novelised two screenplays, while other writers have authored unofficial versions of the secret agent character.
Initially famed through the novels, James Bond is best known from the Eon Productions film series, twenty-one of which have been made as of 2007. He is well-known for his intellect and ability to seduce women. In addition there are two independent productions and one Fleming-licenced American television adaptation of the first novel. The Eon Productions films are generally described as the "official" films and, although its origin is unclear, this term is used throughout this article. Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli and Harry Saltzman co-produced the official films until 1975, when Broccoli remained the sole producer. Since 1995, Broccoli's daughter Barbara and stepson Michael G. Wilson have co-produced them.
From 1962 through 2007, six actors have portrayed James Bond in "official" films:
  1. Sir Sean Connery (1962–1967; 1971)
  2. George Lazenby (1969)
  3. Sir Roger Moore (1973–1985)
  4. Timothy Dalton (1987–1989)
  5. Pierce Brosnan (1995–2002)
  6. Daniel Craig (2006–present)

I haven't seen one in a theater in ten years or so, but I sure hope they never stop making them. I still get hooked every now and again when one of the cable networks does a marathon. Heck with some of the real old ones, I can practially say the lines along with the characters. Fun and silly stuff.

I think the best Bond moment ever is when Felix (Bond's attache from the CIA) meets him in Miami at the beginning of Goldfinger, and Bond lays a nice pert slap on his woman's ass telling her to leave and saying, "Man talk."

That was a line that didn't quite register when I was a kid.

yeah 21 and if you include the unofficial ones (which are good too) then the number goes to 24 and one to be released in 2008 (i suppose. makes it 22nd official and 25th total).
all are worth watching if you have fondness fot spy/action movies. Some are full of action and drama but there are few which are ordinary. these are all available on rent (hope you have a HMV near by?)
