Hi all,

I was told the therapists at Andrea's rehab facility had a meeting today to discuss how long she would be staying there as an in-patient and what her prognosis might be. I was hoping this  meeting wold clear up some of the uncertainty surrounding these issues, but such is not completely the case...
I was told she would be leaving the rehab on 2/12 unless insurance declined to pay for a stay that long. Andrea is doing very well physically, but is still poor at problem solving, and is easily confused. She still has a lot of trouble expressing herself. Alas, the insurance company only seems to care about the physical aspects, and not the cognitive, so they might not let her stay until the 12th. This seems very odd to me, as I'd consider cognitive ability more important than physical ability, but that's how it is. If it comes to it, I might need to start making some calls to see if I can reason with the insurance company.
I'm supposed to go to the rehab facility this Friday at 1:00 to meet with a doctor who will discuss her case with me further. He will be evaluating Andrea that morning. They were at this point unable to give me any predictions of long-term outcomes. I will let you know what I learn.
At this point I'm told Andrea will need 24-hour supervision when released. I'm not sure how to pull this off. The VT Adult Day Services was mentioned as an option to investigate. I have some calls in already. Some of you might know its Director- Alison Galway.
So, the future is still unclear. I'll let you know what I learn as soon as I learn it.
