Zathura

Chris Van Allburg's books have already been adapted on the big screen. How can anyone forget the distractive jungle chaos of Jumanji or the winter hues of Polar Express?
Joining them now is Zathura: a Space Adventure, aptly named and made with comfortable innocence, breathing a breath of fresh air into the family of cliched films.
Josh, Danny and their older sister Lisa are left to spend time with their divorced dad (Tim Robbins in a small, charming role). But a tussle over who will get to spend more time with him escalates sibling rivalry, which reaches a feverrish pitch. Adding fuel to the situation, dad has to leave for work, leaving their sister in charge.
Alone and bored, Danny comes across "Zathura", an old metal board game. With his first move, the living room is blown to pieces by meteors and with successive turn, the children get to go into apace in turn, meeting an astronaut and fighting flesh - eating aliens. The only way to get back to earth (as their house is floating in space) is by finishing the game.
John Favreau with another impressive film under his belt is truly one of the upcoming directors to look forward to. Zathura has something to offer to almost every member of the family. A must watch for any good cinema buff; even those who didn't cotton to Jumanji will find something of interest here.

I saw Polar Express in 3D! That was such a good movie :) But I've never seen Jumanji or Zathura. I haven't had any interest!
