Smart Scorpions
01.08.07 (11:50 pm)   [edit]
Scientists have recently discovered that the venom of the yellow lsraeli scorpion can be used to treat high-grade brain glioma - a type of cancer that affects 17000 people a year and kills 98 per cent of those affected.  The venom of the yellow lsraeli scorpion contains around a 100 different kinds of toxins. What makes it an ideal treatment for those suffering from the cancer is that the venom from these scorpions contains a protein that will seek and bind itself only to the brain-cancer cells. The conventional way of treating cancer is by using radiation. With this discovery, however, scientists now have a more accurate way of treating this type of cancer.
