Lighting can be one of the most creative components of design. It can give a wide look to a narrow space and highlight certain features. Designers mostly prefer lamps instead of built-in lighting systems due to their versatility and adaptability.
Before you venture out looking for the right glow and light, here are few details to keep in mind:-

1. The variety of shades and bases that come with lamps are endless and might confuse you. Choose a base in earthenware, copper, marble, steel, brass, wood, wrought iron, or crystal, depending on the existing look of your home.
2. For lampshades, choose a material and color that supplements the surrounding and is also easy to maintain. Left over curtains or upholstery can be used to make matching lampshades. Paper mache, Chinese rice paper, silk, leather and lantern styles are in vogue.
