Loud snorers can be very annoying, especially when sleeping with those who don't snore. By using an electric stimulus that would contract the muscles around the soft tissues in the body's airways, a biomedical research team has been working on developing a snore- zapper, which would silence loud snorers. The system makes use of a microphone to establish when a person begins to snore while the strength and duration of the pulses are determined by trial and error. A coil of wire is placed underneath a patient's pillow and separate coils of wire are injected in a palate. The pillow coil then wirelessly induces pulsed power, producing very low charges in the muscle coils to tighten the tissue.
