The Value of Play
12.15.06 (8:13 am)   [edit]
  1. Teaching young children is becoming more and more stressful for parents, who often complain that their child is not willing to study. This often leads to a scenario where the child is forced to study.
  2. For example, your child is engaged in building a tower with blocks, and you suddenly decide it is time for him/her to write the letters of the alphabet. Put yourself in your child's position. If you are working and trying to figure out something important, and you are forced to quit that task immediately and made to do something else, how would you feel? So, imagine the frustration your child will feel.
  3. Unfortunately, the value of play is not understood in our hurried society. Children who are not allowed to play are deprived of a vital and essential aspect of their childhood.
  4. Play is of immense value to child development, as it helps develop and foster life skills, creativity, imagination and a positive self-image. Researchers say that play allows children to express bottled up opinions and negative emotions. Not allowing children time for play can lead to serious consequences for children and for our society.
  5. Play prepares children for adulthood, develops their problem solving skills and helps them learn cooperation, negotiation and compromise, which are generally missing from our society. The next time you see your child engaged in play, please don't assume that he/she is wasting time. Instead, ask yourself what he/she may be getting out of it.
  6. To help children develop into creative well - adjusted adults, the valure of play must be recognised.

Play helps in two ways firstly thy enjoy it, and second tht get interesrt in studies if u use play to teach them,

it is formerly believed tht a children participating in active sport helps develop him more intellectually than those books

It is simple have deal with them

u let thm play thn thy will study
if thy don't study don't let thm play

be strict for first few days thn it will reflect later, thy will be on time for everything thy will njy and also study

the reason i feel children shd play is bcoz thy have time now to play, the time thy become our age wht will thy except blogging like us or thinking abt something, resposibility, responsibility,

u ask me i wld rather live like peter penn, never grow, tht is totally different talk my frnds feel i m still a kid.

The amount of play should depend mostly on the age. In my opinion, the best thing for children is to get their work and study ready by 6:30pm and then let them do whatever they like till bedtime.

I think kids also need time to play outdoors rather than indoors after 6.30pm. I always tell my kids to move out (away from TV/Video games) and play outdoors and best time for outdoors is from 5 to 6.30 (depends). Then study for 2 or 3 hrs.
