That maybe NASA and Osama are allies?
Or
That Osama is so powerful he can just continue to kill more of us?

I honestly don't see any humor in this as an American.

Incredibly clever as a device - as a political cartoon, a little hard to laugh. Can't imagine that the artist intended humor beyond irony ... international collectives are definitely still in the mode of hurling deep emotions at one another. The Columbia's still likely tender for many who remember that dreadful day.

Thanks Whisper for this. I'll be wanting friends to have a look if it's ok.

thanx Andrea. when we direct every tragedy towards terrorist and throw the blames of our own mistakes to Al-Qaida and company, thinking and art like this one is suppose to surface. If you remember it was innitially thought to be a terrorist activity and ruled out later.

You're right, the same was true about the Oklahoma City federal bldg bombing - first suspicion by one and all was Arab-terrorism; naturally it was a renegade terrorist of our own making. No doubt that sort of terrorist grows in numbers as we write.

This is sort of a right-brain/left-brain thing for me. My left brain appreciates the cleverness of the cartoon; my right brain still reels with the shock over disasters wherever they occur - I suppose I'm humbled to confess that my right brain trumps my left routinely! It's always good to have good friends who help me to keep my wits about me. (Sometimes lending me wits, when I'm clearly witless!)

Thank *you* for that, Whisper ...

By the way, my husband, John just looked at the cartoon - notes a couple of things:
- the shuttle has a kind of "friendly happy face" on it (I find it looks like a *goofy* toothy smile)
- return to Texas (Bush's house?) seems to imply "chickens coming home to roost"

We'd both love to know what's written in the strategic spots on the cartoon (the words can often point the audience toward an intended conceptual focus ...)

Thanks again, Whisper!

top right corner is probably written "Al Jazeerah" on the board behinde Usama is written "Al Qaeda", top right corner is cartooninst's signature , on Texas its written Texas and below the arrow (where it leads to) is written Palestine. Waiting for your views now ....:)
