Can't imagine that the artist intended humor beyond irony ... international collectives are definitely still in the mode of hurling deep emotions at one another. If you remember it was innitially thought to be a terrorist activity and ruled out later. posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 11.07.06 (4:59 am) You're right, the same was true about the Oklahoma City federal bldg bombing - first suspicion by one and all was Arab-terrorism; naturally it was a renegade terrorist of our own making. No doubt that sort of terrorist grows in numbers as we write. This is sort of a right-brain/left-brain thing for me. My left brain appreciates the cleverness of the cartoon; my right brain still reels with the shock over disasters wherever they occur - I suppose I'm humbled to confess that my right brain trumps my left routinely! It's always good to have good friends who help me to keep my wits about me. (Sometimes lending me wits, when I'm clearly witless!) Thank *you* for that, Whisper ... posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 11.07.06 (5:05 am) By the way, my husband, John just looked at the cartoon - notes a couple of things: - the shuttle has a kind of "friendly happy face" on it (I find it looks like a *goofy* toothy smile) - return to Texas (Bush's house?) seems to imply "chickens coming home to roost" We'd both love to know what's written in the strategic spots on the cartoon (the words can often point the audience toward an intended conceptual focus ...)
