Things to Remember During a War
03.28.07 (11:37 am)   [edit]
1. Friendly Fire is more accurate than Enemy Fire..

2. Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

3. Teamwork is essential. It gives them more targets to shoot at.

4. No combat-ready unit ever passed inspection.

5. No inspection-ready unit ever passed combat.

6. Remember: your aircraft was made by the lowest bidder.

7. Never share a cockpit with someone braver than you.

8. You are not Tom Cruise.

9. SAMs and AAA have the right-of-way.

10. If you aren't sure, the SAMs are pointed at you.

11. If hit, landing near the people that just shot you down is not a good idea.

12. Smart bombs have bad days too.

13. The best defense is to stay out of range.

14. If you are short on everything but enemy, you are in combat.

Paris Hilton
03.14.07 (12:26 pm)   [edit]
Paris Hilton in Munich in 2005.
Birth name : Paris Whitney Hilton
Born : February 17, 1981
Born in : New York City, New York, USA
Official site : ParisHilton.com
Paris Whitney Hilton is an American singer, actress, and fashion model. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, and to the real estate fortune of her father, Richard Hilton.
Hilton is a socialite in both Manhattan and Los Angeles and she has been described as a celebutante, a portmanteau of celebrity and debutante. She is well known for her participation in the reality series, The Simple Life, and also 1 Night in Paris; an unauthorized sex video of her with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, which was leaked onto the Internet in late 2003. She has since branched out into many careers; and as of August 2006, she is making a bid at a music career with her debut pop album Paris.
In the March 2005 issue of Playboy, she was named the "Sex Star of the Year" in their list of the 25 Sexiest Celebrities. Someone appearing to be her, allegedly a look-a-like and not Hilton herself, was on the cover of the issue. Hilton's spokeswoman said she did not know where the picture came from.
While Hilton has been quoted as saying that she is the iconic blonde of the decade and comparing herself to Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe, she will reportedly appear in the 2007 Guinness World Records as the world's "Most Overrated Celebrity". On August 29, 2006, the mayor of Las Vegas proclaimed the day, "Paris Hilton Day" and gave Hilton a key to the city. Hilton says Vegas is her "favorite place in the world to come to party."

What Is Twitter ???
03.13.07 (8:53 am)   [edit]

Twitter is a social networking service that allows members to inform each other about what they are doing and what they think. It allows users to send messages via phone or instant messaging. Two SMS gateway numbers are available - one for USA, and one UK number for international use. Users can receive updates from other selected users via web, IM, or SMS. It made its debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive in March 2005. Its an example of a Micro-Blogging platform. Twitter lends itself well to haiku; a haiku written in Twitter is a twaiku.

Clay Aiken - The Hottest Male Singer
03.10.07 (11:25 am)   [edit]

Birth name : Clayton Holmes Grissom
Born: November 30, 1978
United States Raleigh, North Carolina
Genre(s) : Pop, Adult contemporary
Years active : 2003—present
Label(s) : RCA
Website : www.clayaiken.com

Clay Aiken (born Clayton Holmes Grissom on November 30, 1978) is an American pop singer who rose to fame on the second season of the television program American Idol in 2003. RCA Records offered him a recording contract and his debut album Measure of a Man was released in October 2003. Based on album sales, he has become the most successful second-place finisher in that show's history.
Clay Aiken was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a young boy, Aiken sang in the Raleigh Boychoir and as a young adult with a local band, Just By Chance. He attended Raleigh's Leesville Road High School before enrolling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Although his American Idol activities temporarily delayed his academic pursuits, Aiken graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education in December of 2003. He found his interest in special education while directing YMCA children's camps as a teenager; at age 19 he served as a substitute teacher for a classroom of students with autism at Brentwood Elementary School. While attending college in Charlotte he took a part-time job as an assistant to a boy with autism, and it was this child's mother, Diane Bubel, who urged him to audition for American Idol.

Understanding Podcasting
03.08.07 (2:02 am)   [edit]
If you are still boggled by this term, podcasting is a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar programme made available on the internet for downloading to a personal audio player. To understand its mechanics and how you can make use of it, here is a general guideline.
  1. A podcast is a media file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the internet through syndication feeds for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
  2. Although many websites offer direct downloads, a podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using special software packages capable of reading web feed formats including digital content and data.
  3. Podcasting's initial appeal was that it allowed individuals to distribute their own "radio shows" but the system is now used in a variety of other ways, including distribution of school lessons, official and unofficial audio tours of museums, conferences etc.
  4. The term podcasting derives its name from iPod, but to create a podcast or listen to one, an iPod is not a requirement.
  5. Podcasting involves producing your own audio files and then publishing them online somewhere, indexed for subscription and reception by an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) reader. They are then downloaded to the subscriber's iPods, cell phones or other locations to listen to whenever they want.
  6. Although podcasting is catching on fast, predictions are that podcasting will not replace old-fashioned broadcasting, just as FM didn't replace AM, and TV didn't replace radio.
  7. Podcasting is simply a shift from an old medium where you had to wait for your favourite shows to a new medium where you choose what you want to hear, when you want to hear it, and how you want to give everybody else the option to listen to it as well.

Intelligent Question
03.03.07 (10:30 pm)   [edit]

While visiting India , George Bush is invited to tea with Abdul Kalam.
He asks Kalam what his leadership philosophy is.
He says that, it is to surround himself with intelligent people.
Bush asks how he knows if they're intelligent.
"I do so by asking them the right questions," says the Kalam.
"Allow me to demonstrate. "
Bush watches as Kalam phones Manmohan Singh and says, "Mr. Prime Minister, please answer this question: your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or sister. Who is it?"
Manmohan immediately responds, "It's me, Sir !"
"Correct. Thank you and good-bye, sir," says the Kalam. He hangs up and says, "Did you get that, Mr. Bush?"
Bush nods: "Yes Mr. President. Thanks a lot. I'll definitely be using that!" Bush, upon returning to Washington , decides he'd better put the Condoleeza Rice to the test.
Bush summons her to the White House and says, "Condoleeza, I wonder if you can answer a question for me."
"Why, of course, sir. What's on your mind?"
Bush poses the question: "Uhh, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Rice was puzzled and finally asks, "Can I think about it and get back to you?"
Bush agrees, and Rice leaves.
Rice immediately calls a meeting of senior senators, and they puzzle over the question for several hours, but nobody can come up with an answer. Finally, in desperation, Rice calls Colin Powell and explains the problem.
"Mr. Powell, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Powell answers immediately, "It's me, of course."
Much relieved, Rice rushes back to the White House, finds George Bush, and exclaims, "I know the answer, sir! I know who it is!
It's our Colin Powell!"
And Bush replies in disgust,
"Wrong, its Manmohan Singh!"

03.02.07 (12:40 pm)   [edit]

Antonella Barba

The 16 semifinalists on the sixth season of Fox' American Idol were revealed during last night's live results show but it wasn't without a few surprises as 20 year old, NJ native Antonella Barba survived despite both a poor singing performance and the emergence of numerous provocative photos that have captured viewer's attention over the past two weeks. American Idol-6, eliminated four but she stays safe.
She is the most talked about contestant on American Idol. The most contoversial ever on the web. I am posting the photo and you can find the details to know more. You may like to google or even booble about her. For those who are not aware of booble may like to experience what it is.
(Adult Content Warning: Be careful and dont booble if kids are around. Excuse me ladies, you are requested not to booble.)

Studivz
03.01.07 (11:57 pm)   [edit]
StudiVZ is the name of a social networking service for university students in Europe, based in Berlin, Germany. The name is an abbreviation of the German expression Studentenverzeichnis, which means students directory.
The service is largely comparable to the services offered by its US-counterpart Facebook. StudiVZ claims to be one of the biggest social networks in Europe, with reportedly about 1,000,000 members as of November 2006, mostly in German-speaking countries Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
The network was launched in October 2005 by two students from Berlin, but in the meantime has collected an undisclosed sum of investments by, among others, the media group Holtzbrinck and the Samwer brothers, founders of the ringtone vendor Jamba!. Similar services have just been launched in France (StudiQG), Italy (StudiLN), Spain (EstudiLN), and Poland (StudentIX), other countries are supposed to follow.
In early November 2006, StudiVZ gained some notoriety outside its realm and also in English-speaking countries when the word was at times listed as the most popular search term on Technorati, even eclipsing former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld who had just resigned from office. This followed a couple of discussions and speculations which the company had to face in the German blogosphere, mainly about issues such as server performance, questions of privacy, internationalization, or publicity gaffes by the inexperienced team of founders.
The whole discussion culminated when some blogs published or made reference to an invitation card and accompanying website distributed by one of the founders. The invitation was obviously meant as a satire, but as it was modelled on the Völkischer Beobachter, the propaganda newspaper of the Nazi movement, several people took offense and criticized the action for its bad taste. Some bloggers also published critical accounts and speculations about the company's business practices, claiming they included spamming, cybersquatting, and over-reliance on the enthusiasm of volunteers. In the meantime, the company has tried to answer some of the criticism, which nevertheless continues unabated.
The site has also been criticized for its astounding similarity to Facebook - the site is virtually identical save the color scheme. Some of the error messages reveal that one of the folders on the site is called "Fakebook".
January 2007 Studivz has been sold to one of its investors, Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH, a German publishing group, without any offical figures given. Speculations vary from 20 to "over 100" million Euro.

NaNoWriMo
03.01.07 (10:24 am)   [edit]
Adventurous by nature, Americans are always ready to take on new risks and challenges. Invariably, almost every day one discovers something new. Take the NaNoWriMo website for instance. It is an innovative way of helping people write a novel in a month, making novel writing no longer a dream but something they can do, and do fast.
According to the NaNoWriMo website, in November 2005, approximately 10,000 out of 59,000 people, who started their month as auto mechanics, out of job actors or middle-school English teachers, walked away as novelists by the end of the month.
NaNoWriMo stands for "National Novel Writing Month". This eight-year-old organisation was founded in 1999 in Oakland, California. Since then, it has been celebrating the National Novel Writing Month every November. The programme is open to all countries though it includes the word 'national' in its name. Over 250 chapters are spread all over the world.

Microwave Zaps Germs on Sponges: Study
03.01.07 (9:59 am)   [edit]
Two minutes in a microwave oven can sterilise most household sponges, US researchers report.
A team of engineering reserchers at the University of Florida found that two minutes of microwaving of full power killed or inactivated more than 99 percent of bacteria, viruses or parasites, as well as spores, on a kitchen sponge.
"People often put their sponges and scrubbers in the dishwasher, but if they really want to decontaminate them and not just clean them, they should use the microwave," said Gabriel Bitton, a professor of environmental engineering who led the study.
Bitton and colleagues said they soaked sponges and scrubbing pads in raw wastewater containing bacteria such as E. Coli, viruses, protozoan parasites and bacterial spores.
